53 years old, from the Marche, the son of sharecroppers. A distant past spent on construction sites for building nuclear power plants and oil platforms, more recently an entrepreneur, consultant and trainer for environment and corporate organisation issues. He is a member of the Movimento della Decrescita Felice (Pro de-growth movement) and of numerous other social activities.
